The Neighborhood Improvements team has been making powerful strides towards each of the Key Initiatives below, including neighborhood intervention events, city code improvements, and neighborhood improvement activities.  For more information, take a look at the OWENI activity log on the Neighborhood Improvements Continuing Efforts page!

Organize neighborhood intervention events focused on tangible improvements
Action Steps:

  • Work with T-Town project coordinators to focus additional efforts in the target neighborhood for 2015
  • Identify key community leaders to spearhead events
  • Support leaders in efforts to coordinate resident involvement during intervention events
  • Specifically focus on youth engagement

Increase residential and commercial City code enforcement
Action Steps:

  • Work with City offices to identify bottlenecks and bureaucratic burdens in the code enforcement process
  • Work with City offices to innovate ways to streamline enforcements (such as a Traffic Court model)
City Nuisance Abatement, NTR, & Toledo Housing Court Non-financial process issues Throughout 2015
Coordinate neighborhood improvement strategies focusing on Collingwood Boulevard with Neighborhood Framework group
Action Steps:

  • Focus on redesigning Collingwood Boulevard as a key neighborhood connection/corridor
  • Utilize TMACOG Complete Streets guidelines to inform a re-design of Collingwood north of Central
  • Focus on improved safety along this corridor
  • Work with City resources to incorporate green infrastructure elements and artwork
