Toledo Receives Funding and In-Kind Support to Improve Neighborhoods

The City of Toledo has received $50,000 from the U.S. Forest Service Great Lakes Restoration Initiative for two projects to plant urban tree canopies to increase beauty and “green liveability” in the central city area. The grant was secured through Toledo’s Department of Public Utilities Division of Environmental Services. The first project involves planting trees along Detroit Avenue where the tree canopy will visually weave together existing housing stock and empty parcels where former homes once stood.
