Formed in 2012, the Old West End Neighborhood Initiatives, with support from the Toledo Community Foundation, mission is to promote and empower the residents of the Old West End/Overland Park neighborhood through viable economic, cultural, safety, political, educational, social and ongoing collaboration with other neighborhood entities.


OWENI Working Committees – These volunteers committed to addressing a certain issue or set of related issues for the neighborhood.


Current committees are:

Neighborhood Development – Will focus on housing, re-adaptive use of vacant property, identification and remediation of slum and blight conditions, economic development, and special projects

Community Safety Committee – Will focus on the development of Block Watch groups, identifying and tracking of police response to “hot spots”, traffic safety, and exploration of crime reduction “best practices”.

Picture2Education, Cultural & Social Committee – Will focus on improving access to quality educational opportunities for both youth and adults, development of cultural enrichment opportunities for neighborhood residents, and sponsorship of social events that enhance sense of community.
